PROBUS NYC
EXHIBIT: ART OF SEDUCTION
ADDRESS: 714 W. 181st Street...Washington Heights, NYC
Well, SOA founder is no longer just a Dealer of the arts, but is now has taken up another job, the most unpredictable and intense he's ever had...Daddy-Hood! But there is a balance that he found sooo interesting that he just had to capture it and share it with others...it's humorous and educational at times.
But what it is more than anything interestingly real.. with tales of Lil Mama and Big Papa, the 2 in 1 deal of balancing a life that only the SOA visionary could live...who needs fiction to escape...check it a stick around for the next dosage.
Its really easy to see an exhibit after its been all set up, for a show, but do you know all that goes behind in bringing one to life. The blood, sweat and tears that goes into curating an art exhibit is no less interns than producing and directing a film. Its all about bring all the right elements together...all about the presentation...and ll about getting people interested in it, to the point where they pay for it in someway or another.
So the next time you view an art exhibit you really are attracted to, keep in mind that the art is not only on the work on the walls, but also they came to be on those same walls.
Most of us drink coffee and we enjoy it its taste, texture and tempeture(depending on our prefrence)...but what happens if you spill your precious coffee on some important work documents, personal bills or even a sweet old greeting card from grandma...well lets see, knowing most of you humans, you jump up from where ever you're sitting or standing, which will be followed by the expected "SHIIIIT!" or "DAAAAMN!" then you'll shake off the java puddle on the paper or blot it dry with a paper towel...pretty much do anything to salvage this vicitimzed piece of paper...and probably spend the rest of your day swearing til the good feeling goes away..but again, thats what most humans would do....Not the case with SOArtist ED UBIERA...
Mr. Chicken and Robots will look at coffee spilling situation as an opportunity to create...out of what most would see as a coffee cotastrphy. While other artists stick to paint and paint brushes, Ed goes for something a lil more non-traditional...give him stains, coffee spills and he'll give DOPE ART. The long time SOA family memeber is back! Thank you Mr.Ed.
Brooklyn artists and SOA familia member, Mike Stone, known mostly for his abstract based work, has decided to give us a look into the range that of talent and thought he possesses. We found this out, when we were invited to Pratt's Campus in BK to Mike Stone's studio, where he gave us some insight on what new direction he was taking his artistic talents in. We were pleasantly surprised. While the collection is not complete, we now have an idea of what to expect from Mike Stone and his hand skills.
FRESH CROP OF SOARTIST ON THE RISE...HARVESTING STARTS SOON

Most of you are familar with the artists that make up the Sound of Art roster, some of you have seen them at certain SOA produced exhibits, and others of you see them and associate them only with the Sound of Art. Over the years we’ve sprinkle our collective with new talent, but they enter the SOA familia in a subtle way… but now its time for a change, When my Daddy dealings are on Down Time, I’m searching, being connected to, building with new talent weekly, and i have narrowed it down to this first batch, and we will not introduce them quietly anymore we will announce them and even plan an event to induct them in the Sound of Art collective, be on the lookout, here comes the PAAAIIIN!!!
Jose Morales(JM),business owner and one of our newest SOA Buyers, allowed for us to interrogate him on being "matched" with his first art piece, Root of All by SOArtist, Mario Pena.
SOA: How did it take you to like this piece of art?
JM: Basically the meaning of the piece what I thought was most appealing the mixtures of hip hop culture with the tapes, the menus the graffiti thought it was well put together.
SOA: How long did it take you to decided that you wanted to buy it?
JM: Once I saw it I told my partner this piece represents us well so I kind of made my mind up within a weeks time.
SOA: What was the main reason for attraction to this piece?
JM: The main reason was the graffiti and the names of some of the hip hop artist on the tapes which where some of my favorite artist and def a fan of graph.
SOA: Have you bought art in the past? If so what are they, if not why haven't you?
JM: Never purchased art b4 just never saw anything that caught my eye at least not in my price range.
SOA: Was there anything special you experienced or are feeling now, knowing that you own a piece of original artwork?
JM: Not anything special but it has def opened up my eyes to purchasing more art and realizing how dope it makes the pad look.lol
SOA: What made you hang this piece where you did, in your home?
JM: Well I have my piece by my bar and music section which I think symbolizes this piece because my music section consist of tapes and old school vinyl which I feel was what the piece was sort of symbolizing.
SOA: Would you buy another piece of art from this same artist?
JM: Definitely would
SOA: Do you get any reactions from guests that visit your home, when they see the piece? If so, what kind of stuff do they say?
JM: More of a conversation piece bc of what's on there the music the graph the chinese store menu etc..it brings out good musical conversation especially bc we r at the bar and music section of my apt.
SOA: Since buying this pieces of art do you have a different outlook or perception on buying art that you didn't have before
JM: I think ever since I opened up the cafe and constantly have art and photography on the walls and learning more about the culture of artist gives you a whole different appreciation, so I'm always checking for stuff that might interest me.
