Working in different mediums, including sculpture painting and video, Charnier has never focused on a single medium. When asked about his work, Charnier said, I paint in a non-traditional style, building my surfaces by applying paint with plastic knives used to create texture, depth and an overall ephemeral feeling throughout my portraits.
Influences
The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place, said Pablo Picasso, from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing stranger, from a spiders web. I try to be influenced by all things, but the most important influence in my life is my mother, Charlene Corey. She is the epitome of strength, patience, endurance and resilience.

Artist Since
Its hard to define the exact moment, because I have been around creative people all my life and the act of creating art was something that came natural to me. I would have to say the first time I was really proud of what I could do with pencil and paper was when I was 10 years old and I drew a picture of a San Francisco 49ers football helmet. Nobody in my family believed I drew it free-hand (they all accused me of tracing?). I was most proud because, not only did I impress my family, but I found something that could sustain my attention for hoursaway from the confines of 17 relatives living in a tight 3 bedroom townhouse. I would spend the better part of my childhood drawing and creating to escape the rigors of project life in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
